The new Soriano Giaguaro V1R electric bike for 32,500 euros

Soriano Motori Corporation enters the electric motorcycle sector with the Giaguaro, an electric bike available in two versions characterized by premium materials.

The new Soriano Giaguaro electric bike is a motorcycle with sophisticated technical solutions, made in Italy and, as they say, with no expense spared. The house founded in Spain by Ricardo Soriano in 1939, which later became OSSA after the war, returns to the fore thanks to his nephew Marco Antonio Soriano.

Established financier in New York, with diversified interests in the artificial intelligence sector, in 2019, he decided to resurrect the family brand to face the challenge of new electric mobility. It has put an international team of technicians and engineers to work with the mandate to create a proprietary platform for different types of electric vehicles.

In the two versions, the Soriano Giaguaro bikes, V1S and V1R, are his first creation. Both bikes are powered by two liquid-cooled brushless motors developed with Moog. The scheme is that of a two-cylinder Boxer engine. At the front, there are two different radiators for cooling. The power is 60 kW for the first version and 72 kW for the second, with an identical torque of 155 Nm.

The Soriano Giaguaro electric bikes are powered by two 15 and 20 kWh lithium batteries, which guarantee a range of approximately 180 km. The pack is 90 cells. Charging can be done with the 3.5 kW charger in 5 hours or 20 kW in one hour. They are placed above the engine, with the idea of quickly replacing them when technology increases their performance.

The main peculiarity of the Giaguaro is that it will have a 5-speed gearbox, with the hydraulic clutch in the oil bath, neutral and reverse, precisely like a normal thermal motorcycle. The Soriano Giaguaro bike is a choice that aims to guarantee a driving experience as similar as possible to that of a traditional bike.

The frame is made of steel tubes, combined in the V1S with an upside-down telescopic fork with 50 mm diameter stanchions and 125 mm of travel and, in the V1R, with a unique parallelogram system. At the rear, for both versions, we find a more traditional aluminum fork, however, machined from solid with numerical control CNC technology. Both models are fitted with 17 ″ OZ wheels with 120/50 and 180/55 tires. The front brake is a 320 mm double disc with opposed four-piston calipers, and the rear one, with a single 260 mm disc, again with a four-piston caliper.

Other peculiarities are the onboard instrumentation, gathered in an 8" touchscreen mounted on the tank. The display allows the rider to access all information, such as travel speed, gear engaged, energy absorption, residual charge, and engine temperature, as well as the date and time stamps.

A few words about Ricardo Soriano:

Soriano also founded the first motorcycle factory in Spain, from which the first known scooter came out in 1942. The Soriano bike began to be mass-produced in Madrid, in 1941, in reaction to the growing thunder that the world of two wheels was experiencing in those years. The company fabricated various models of small motorcycles known as Lince, Pantera, and Tigre. A third motorcycle would be shown to the masses in 1947. Known by the title of "Puma" and powered by a 122 cc engine., this motorcycle did not meet the retail anticipations even though its mechanics were recognized as one of the most dependable of the trademark. In 1952, Ricardo Soriano projected the manufacture of a renewed version of the "Puma." In 1954, the Soriano motorcycle plant altogether ceased its activity. @via Electric Hunter.
