Equipment Rules
When applying for a DOT oversize permit in BC, your truck and trailer must follow these rules:
Tractor wheelbase can't be more than 244 inches unless you have a Long Wheelbase Permit.
Tridem drive tractors used to be allowed more, but that rule no longer applies.
Lift axles are not allowed.
Spread axles can’t carry more than 20,000 pounds unless you get an overweight permit for a non-reducible load.
Flip axles are allowed if they are locked and spaced correctly.

Over 90′ in length or over 21′ of rear overhang – 1 escort

Over 10’6″ in width – beacon light or 1 escort
