History of the Matka Game
The Satta Matka game started in India in the 1950s when people began placing bets based on the opening and closing price of cotton rates sent from the New York Cotton Exchange to the Bombay Cotton Exchange. Over time, this transformed into a random number selection game. Instead of prices, numbers were drawn from a matka (pot), and the game continued to grow in popularity, especially in Mumbai and other regions.
Originally, paper slips or cards were placed inside a pot, and a person would draw the winning numbers.
