Air quality monitors have become essential tools in our daily lives, helping us understand the quality of the air we breathe. These devices can detect various pollutants, including formaldehyde (HCHO), PM2.5, TVOC, and even temperature and humidity. They work by using different types of sensors to measure the concentration of pollutants in the air. For example, formaldehyde sensors use electrochemical principles to detect HCHO levels, while PM2.5 sensors use laser scattering methods to calculate the number and diameter of particles.

Indoor air pollutants mainly come from building materials, paints, adhesives, and new furniture. Formaldehyde, a common pollutant from new home decorations, can linger in the air for up to 15 years. TVOC, or Total Volatile Organic Compounds, includes a wide range of harmful chemicals that can be emitted from paints, coatings, and adhesives. PM2.5 refers to particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less, which can cause serious health issues.

When using an air quality monitor, it is important to keep it away from strong winds, fans, or heaters, as these can interfere with the accuracy of the readings. Additionally, it is recommended to seal windows and doors for 24 hours before testing in a room to get accurate results. Calibration is also necessary for some sensors, such as HCHO and TVOC, to ensure accurate detection.

Air quality monitors are available in various types, including portable and handheld models, making them suitable for use in homes, offices, and cars. They often come with features like large LCD screens, rechargeable batteries, and multiple detection capabilities. These devices not only help us monitor air quality but also provide valuable data for improving our living environments.
