Costs and Limits to Respec-ing
Cost per Point: Each time you use an Orb of Regret, it will refund one passive point. The more points you want to respec, the more Orbs of Regret you’ll need.
Higher Costs for Larger Respecs: While respec-ing a few points is relatively cheap, redoing large sections of Path of exile currency the tree can be very expensive, especially in the late game.
Path of Building (PoB): To avoid excessive costs, players often use Path of Building (a third-party tool) to plan their builds in advance. This allows you to visualize your tree and experiment with different configurations before committing to a respec.
Limited Free Respecs: The game does give some free respec points for story progression and quest completions, but these are not enough to completely redo your build. You will need Orbs of Regret for most major changes.
Strategies for Efficient Respec-ing
While it’s possible to respec your entire Passive Tree if you have the necessary Orbs of Regret, this can become costly, especially if you’re making multiple changes in the later stages of the game. Here are some strategies to make respec-ing more efficient:
1. Plan Your Tree Ahead of Time
Use Path of Building to plan your Passive Skill Tree in advance before committing to a final build. This way, you can avoid unnecessary changes during the game and minimize respec costs.
Path of Building will also let you see which nodes will provide the most benefit for your chosen build and whether they align with your gear and gems.
2. Leveling Up Efficiently
Early on, focus on general defensive nodes like Life, Mana, and Resistances rather than trying to max out specific damage nodes. This will give you more flexibility as you approach the endgame and have more Orbs of Regret to experiment with.
As you get closer to buy Path of exile currency endgame, focus on selecting nodes that complement your gear, Ascendancy, and skill gems.
